Ministry Intensive - The Story of the Church

This introductory subject is designed to introduce students to the history of the Christian Church, from the post-apostolic period to the present day.  The reference to “story” in the title is meant to convey an emphasis upon history as narrative in the course.  It will move beyond merely discussing the key characters and events, to discuss the church’s theology and spirituality, as well as how it shaped surrounding culture and has itself been shaped by surrounding culture. >>download here<<

Lecturer - Ron Wilson

This foundational subject introduces students to the God of grace and helps them to see themselves as loved by that God. It introduces the student to Jesus Christ who is presented as the one human being who truly reflects the image of God. It is from him that we understand who God is and who we are as human beings in relation to God. This subject will help students to understand and enjoy living gratefully in the grace of God.

Understanding Systems and Families
Commences Wed 17th February 14 weeks 1 - 4 pm
Lecturer - Klasina Abetz-Visser
This subject will propose a theological foundation for family. A number of theories and tools for understanding families, their dynamics, and impact on the individual will be taught. Different modernist and post-modern modalities for counselling families and individuals from a familial perspective will be explored. The differences and challenges from individual counselling will be realised in application of skills learnt in role play situations.

Ethics
Commences Thurs 18 February 14 weeks 1.15 pm - 4 pm

Lecturer - Aileen Lyle
This subject helps the student to develop a clear, consistent, and defendable approach to ethical decision making in light of biblical and theological insights. Develop an understanding of the various approaches that have been taken to ethical decision making. Learn how to articulate how biblical and theological approaches to ethics critiques the traditional approaches and develop a clear, consistent, and defendable approach to ethical decision making.

Intercultural Life & Work
Commences Thursday 18th February 14 wks 1.15pm - 4pm

Lecturer - Karen Woolford
The subject provides a biblical and practical introduction to the journey of living and serving in a new and different cultural context – preparation, settling and living within an incarnational model for personal relationships and re-entry – and associated issues in order to assist students in their own decision making regarding the journey.
